RALEIGH, N.C. - After winning top honors at the UNCW Seahawk Invitational, freshman Brittany Copeland duplicated the feat at the NC State Invitational at the SAS Complex in Cary, recording a time of 18:22, besting her mark from last week (18:45). The women finished second of eight teams, 15 points behind the nationally-ranked Wolfpack, while the men turned in a third-place finish out of 11 squads. Jarrett Newby was the top runner for the men again this week, notching a time of 16:31, good for 12th-place.

The rain came down sideways at times, but NC State's men's and women's cross country teams took wins in both the men's and women's collegiate races.

Nicole Briggs placed second among the ECU women, taking eighth with a time of 19:28 while Tayleigh Davis, Samantha Lichtner and Hollie Brooks rounded out the top-five, finishing 11th-13th respectively. For the men, Andrew Nastasiak took 12th while Matt Dennish (23rd), Nick Boerio (31st) and Marcus Hardy (32nd) all recorded points on the evening.
